OUTLANDER SAFETY
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC)
Keeping a distance with the vehicle in front
This system uses a radar and camera to keep a distance between you and the vehicle in front. If the vehicle in front slows down or stops, the ACC will automatically slow or stop your own vehicle. It offers greater peace of mind especially in stop/start traffic.
LANE KEEP ASSIST (LKA)
Keeping your vehicle in lane
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND PREVENTION (LDW and LDP)
Reduce drifting out of your lane
If your vehicle is moving across from its lane and you're not using your indicators, you’ll first be alerted by a vibrating steering wheel and a blinking light on the digital driver’s display. It will then apply the brakes to one side of the vehicle to help keep you safely in your original lane.
ACTIVE BLIND SPOT ASSIST (ABSA)
Automatically checking your blind spots
Radar on either side of the vehicle and a front camera detect driving lane markers. If you attempt to change lanes and there’s someone in your blind spot, you get audible and visible warnings. The system will then assist you by controlling the brakes to help keep you in the original lane.
REAR AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKE (REAR AEB)
Preventing you from reversing into objects
A sonar in the rear bumper detects whether there are any obstacles, such as car park barriers. If there is anything there, you’ll get an audible warning and the brakes are automatically applied.
DRIVER ATTENTION ALERT* (DAA)
Helping to keep a watchful eye over you
If you’ve been driving for a long time, your attention span can dip. This system monitors your steering. If it detects any lack of concentration, it suggests you take a break by giving you an audible and visible warning on the dashboard.
* This feature only activates within a limited speed and specific obstacles.
TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION (TSR)
Spotting speed signs in case you miss them
Sometimes it’s easy to miss the speed limit signs as you drive along. The TSR system evaluates the speed signs through a front camera. This speed limit is then displayed on your dashboard controls – the Head up Display or the TFT meter display.
11 SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM*
Protection for everyone in the car
To keep you and your passengers safe in the event of a collision, the Outlander has a best-in-class 11-airbag system. Front seat occupants are protected by front, knee, seat-mounted side & center, and curtain airbags. Rear passengers by side and curtain airbags.
*Vehicle airbag specification may vary by market.
MULTI AROUND MONITOR
Keeping an eye all around you
The Multi-Around Monitor uses digital cameras mounted around the Outlander keep an eye on those hard-to-see areas. It also creates a bird's-eye visual of the vehicle from above, helping you orientate yourself and park more safely. The Multi-Around Monitor now features Moving Object Detection, which tells you if there are any people nearby.

IMPORTANT:
ACC: The detection and control capabilities of Adaptive Cruise Control [ACC] are supplemental only. ACC may not be activated in some situations. This system may not correctly
detect the actual situation depending on the type of vehicle in front and its conditions, the weather conditions, and the road conditions. Additionally, the system may be unable to decelerate sufficiently if the vehicle in front applies the brakes suddenly or another vehicle cuts into your path, so your vehicle approaches the front vehicle.
LDP: The detection and control capabilities of Lane Departure Prevention [LDP] are supplemental only. The LDP system will not steer the vehicle or prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and be in control of the vehicle at all times. The LDP system is primarily intended for use on well-developed freeways or highways. It may not detect the lane markers in certain road, weather, or driving conditions. The warning sound will only activate when MI-PILOT Assist is running (active).
LKA: Lane Keep Assist [LKA] is not a replacement for proper driving procedures and is not designed to correct careless, inattentive or absent-minded driving. LKA will not always steer the vehicle to keep it in the lane. It is not designed to prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and be in control of the vehicle at all times. As there is a performance limit to the LKA’s capability, never rely solely on the system. LKA does not function in all driving, traffic, weather, and road conditions. Always drive safely, pay attention to the operation of the vehicle, and manually control your vehicle appropriately. LKA is intended for use on well-developed highways with gentle (moderate) curves. To avoid risk of an accident, do not use this system on local or non-highway roads. LKA only steers the vehicle to maintain its position in the center of a lane. The vehicle will not steer to avoid objects in the road in front of the vehicle or to avoid a vehicle moving into your lane. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and be in control of the vehicle at all times. Never take your hands off the steering wheel when driving. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel and drive your vehicle safely. Always drive carefully and attentively when using the LKA.
LDW: Lane Departure Warning is not designed to lessen risks associated with not looking ahead carefully (attention drawn to something on the side, absentmindedness, etc.) or poor visibility caused by bad weather etc. Keep steering your vehicle correctly and drive safely. The system may not be able to detect the lane correctly in some conditions. Please see the owner’s manual for additional information.
ABSA: The Active Blind Spot Assist [ABSA] system is not a replacement for proper driving procedures and is not designed to prevent contact with vehicles or objects. When changing lanes, always use the side and rear mirrors and turn and look in the direction your vehicle will move to ensure it is safe to change lanes. Never rely solely on the ABSA system. There is a limitation to the detection capability of the radar. Not every moving object or vehicle will be detected. Using the ABSA system under some road, ground, lane marker, traffic or weather conditions could lead to improper system operation. Always rely on your own operation to avoid accidents.
TSR: In the following situations, Traffic Sign Recognition system [TSR] may not be able to recognize traffic signs or the displayed traffic sign information may be different from the actual information. When driving the vehicle, always check the traffic signs with your own eyes. When the traffic signs are located outside the detection area of the sensor. When visibility is poor due to bad weather, etc.
Rear AEB: The Rear Automatic Emergency Braking [Rear AEB] system is a supplemental aid to the driver. It is not a replacement for proper driving procedures. Always use the side and rear mirrors and turn and look in the direction you will move before and while backing up. Never rely solely on the Rear AEB system. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, and be in control of the vehicle at all times. There is a limitation to the Rear AEB system capability. The Rear AEB system is not effective in all situations.
DAA: The Driver Attention Alert [DAA] system is only a warning to inform the driver of a potential lack of driver attention or drowsiness. It will not steer the vehicle or prevent loss of control. The DAA system does not detect and provide an alert of the driver’s lack of attention or fatigue in every situation. It is the driver’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, be in control of the vehicle at all times, avoid driving when tired, and avoid distractions (texting, etc.).
TSA: The control capabilities of Trailer Stability Assist [TSA] are supplemental only. Please drive safely and never rely solely on these functions while driving. Due to the slippery road surface, heavy side wind, inappropriate weight and positioning of luggage, and/or driving at high speed, the TSA system may fail to secure stability.
HDC: Hill Descent Control [HDC] is not a substitute for safe driving. Never rely solely on this function while driving on steep roads. When driving on slippery roads such as muddy, icy or unpaved road, your vehicle will not allow you to stay at a certain low speed, which may lead to a serious accident.
Drivers are fully responsible for their own safe driving. Please drive safely and do not rely solely on these systems while driving.
